The Andhra Pradesh police on Wednesday evening arrested Bapatla former MP and YSR Congress senior leader Nandigam Suresh in Hyderabad. They went to his house using his mobile phone signal and arrested him.
The police brought him to Mangalagiri in the night. He would be produced in the court on Thursday noon. He was accused in the attack on the TDP office at Mangalagiri in 2021. The police based on the CCTV footage booked cases against Suresh, and four others.
The police also registered cases against YSR Congress MLCs, Talasila Raghuram and Lella Appi Reddy, senior leader Devineni Avinash in the case. It was alleged that these four leaders have instigated the attack on the TDP office. They brought their supporters and encouraged them to attack the TDP office.
It was alleged that they all started from the YSR Congress central office in Tadepalli on the day and dispersed after attacking the TDP office. They destroyed the furniture in the office and beat up some of the TDP activists.
The Mangalagiri police booked the case against these leaders after the TDP formed the government. They also collected the CCTV footage from the TDP office and received a complaint from the office secretary.
The police are also likely to arrest the remaining leaders in a day or two. It is said that these leaders are missing from their houses. They are likely hiding in Hyderabad, the sources said. The Mangalagiri police have formed special teams to nab the accused.
The arrests were started following Andhra Pradesh high court dismissing the anticipatory bail petitions of these leaders on Wednesday.
