Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, on Thursday conducted aerial survey of the flood-hit areas. He reached the Gannavaram airport from where he took the helicopter.
Minister Nara Lokesh accompanied the Union Minister. Lokesh explained the damage caused to Vijayawada city due to floods. He also showed some photographs to the Union Minister and explained how the Budameru flood water inundated the city.
The minister inspected the floods damage in Ajitsinghnagar, Payakapuram, Prakashnagar, Rajarajeswaripet and other areas. Later, he went to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Nadiu’s residence by helicopter. From there he visited Prakasam Barriage and inspected the flood water flow.
The Union Minister promised to extend Central government support to the state to meet the damage. He said he would speak to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and see that some help is given to the state.
Later, the Union Minister met chief minister Chandrababu Naidu at the NTR district collectorate. He also inspected the photo exhibition organized by the state government. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu explained the damage caused to the state due to the floods. He sought the intervention of the Union Miniter in getting the calamity declared as national calamity.
Union Minister of State, Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, BJP Andhra Pradesh unit president and Rajamahendravaram MP Daggubati Purandheswari, Vijayawada West MLA Y S Chowdary and others were present.
