Several colonies were destroyed in Khammam district of Telangana state due to the floods. The Munneru floods devastated several habitations in the district leaving people homeless. Though people could save their lives by climbing on to the first floor of the buildings, they could not save their houses.

Rice, vegetables, money, documents were destroyed in the floods as water entered into the houses. They could not collect anything from the house. They just picked up their children and aged and left to the safer places. But the floods have destroyed their houses.

There is not a single house which was not damaged. The compound walls of every house were destroyed by the devastating floods. They are mostly daily labourers. They have been in the flood water for the past four days and there was no electricity or food made available for them.

Though chief minister A Revanth Reddy promised his full support to them, nothing had come to their rescue. The officials are visiting the places and watching the people living in the knee-deep waters. They are left to their fate.

Manchikantinagar, Peddathanda, Venkateswaranagar, in Khammam town, Rakasi Thanda in Tirumalayapalem mandal are in the waters. The houses were either totally destroyed or partially damaged. Prakash Nagar, Sai Nagar, Jalagam Nagar in Khammam town were also damaged and the people are living on the top of the buildings. They left their homes, which were mostly rented. They have to start life from beginning as they have lost everything.

It might take at least a month for these people to return to normal life. They have to repair their damaged houses. They have to buy back what they have lost including rice, vegetables, clothes and valuable documents.
