Even as the people are suffering with the floods for the past six days, the flood level in Budameru increased by a feet on Friday. The flood water entered Ajitsinghnagar area on the day posing a threat to the people. The situation is said to be turning worst with the increasing levels of water.
There is still water in several parts of the area including Rajarajeswaripet, Ramakrishna Puram, Prakashnagar and other areas. People are leaving from their homes as the water levels have come down below the knee level. With the levels increasing on Friday, people vacated their houses and went to the relatives.
The officials have increased the relief works in the inundated areas. The officials are distributing food packets and water bottles to the victims using the tractors. They are now going into the remote areas from the main roads.
The sanitation staff have also started the work clearing mud on the roads and the vacant places. The government had deployed over 4,000 sanitation workers from other parts of the state to clean the roads. The health staff have also started visiting the area and spreading bleaching powder. They are also distributing medicine to stop the spread of viral fevers and other water related diseases.
The officials of the agriculture and marketing departments have started selling vegetables to the flood victims in their areas. They are going to the people by tractors and push carts. The civil supplies department officials are also distributing rice, onion and potatoes to the victims.
The flood water is still in some houses in the colonies. Andhra Prabha colony is still under water for the sixth day on Friday. People are not able to reach their homes as water is still there. They are looking for help from the government. The officials are yet to reach this area.
Meanwhile, chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu conducted an aerial survey in the flood-hit areas on the day. He visited Budameru rivulet and Kolleru lake areas and watched the flood situation. He also visited the breaches to the Budameru bund and inspected the works going on there.
