The girl students of the hostel held a protest on August 29 alleging that there were hidden cameras fixed in the toilets of the hostel. Those who fixed the hidden cameras have started circulating the videos of the girls using the toilets, they alleged. Over 3000 videos were taken and 300 videos were circulated in the social media, they alleged.
But the police denied the allegation. The police have started investigation. They questioned over 38 girl students, hostel warden, and staff. No one had admitted that they have seen the cameras, the IG said. On the direction of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, computer experts from Computers Emergency Response Team from Delhi and C Dok team from Pune have inspected the hostel, checked the toilets and found that there were no hidden cameras.
These teams have also checked with the mobile phones of the students, their laptops and the college main server. The mobile phones and laptops of those suspected in the case were also checked and found that there were no cameras and videos as alleged, the IG said.
The police have also questioned several persons in the college, including the staff and students. He said that everyone was expressing doubts over the issue but no one had provided any evidence to the allegation. He said that they have investigated the case for one week and found that the allegation was false.
Ashok Kumar further said that they would continue the investigation if anyone provided any evidence to the allegation. He said that they would investigate into the campaign led in the social media and would take action against those responsible for the false campaign.
