Six Naxals killed in Karakagudem encounter

The police have killed six Maoists in Karakagudem of Bhadradri Kothagudem district during late hours on Thursday. On information, the police reached the Karakagudem forest area and encountered the Maoists.

The Maoists of Bhadradri Kothagudem and Alluri Sitarama Raju district committee members tried to cross  Godavari to reach Chhattisgarh. But as the Godavari was flooding, they tried to cross Karakagudem and reach Alluri Sitarama Raju district. The team has been in Karakagudem forest area for the past one week.

The police got a tip off and reached the forest area. Squad leader Kondaiah alias Ajad was not present in the team at the time of encounter. The total team is now washed off with the present encounter. Three members of the squad were earlier arrested by the police while two members were killed in two separate encounters.

This was the first big encounter after the Telangana state was formed in 2014. On September 15, 2015 two Maoists were killed in an encounter at Mulugu Venkatapur forest area.
