Union Minister for Agriculture and farmers welfare, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, on Friday said that the Central government would come to the rescue of the farmers who were hit by the floods. The Union Minister conducted aerial survey in Khammam district on the day. Union Minister Bandi Sanjay accompanied the Central Minister.

The Minister inspected the crops that were damaged in the floods. He found that paddy was damaged mostly in the district in the floods. He said that he would speak to the Central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the damage caused to the floods. He also said that he would explain the devastation to the Prime Minister and see that financial assistance is given to the farmers.

The Central Minister said that he is also a farmer and he knows what would happen to the farmers when the crops are damaged. He promised the farmers of Khammam district to stand by them in the hour of crisis. He said he had seen the damage personally and have an understanding of the damage.

Such damage was never seen in the past. He said he had not seen such a damage caused to the crops by floods. These floods were devastating, he said. The damage was also high, he added. He further said that the farmers have also lost the cattle in the flood. Several animals were died in the floods, he said.

He alleged that the previous BRS government did not utilize the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) funds in the last ten years. He alleged that the previous government focused more on politics than the development of the state.

The Central Minister expressed confidence that the present government would serve the flood victims well. He said that he would take the reports on the crop damage from the state government and get financial help from the central government.
