Naidu conducts aerial survey in flood-hit areas

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu conducted aerial survey of the flood-hit areas on Thursday evening. He took the helicopter from Gannavaram airport and went around the flood-affected areas. He toured the Budameru rivulet area including Kolleru lake.

The flood waters in Kolleru lake have also inundated several villages in the region. Some villages have lost contact with the other villages as the water marooned the roads. In some villages, Kolleru water entered the houses leaving the inmates homeless.

The chief minister looked at the situation in the Kolleru area. He directed the officials to rush to the aid of the victims. He also wanted the officials to supply food and water to the villagers.

In Vijayawada, he inspected the Budameru breaches and the work going on there. He also saw several areas which are still in the waters. He spoke to the irrigation officials and got information about the present floods and the previous floods.

The chief minister collected the records of the floods to Budameru rivulet in the last hundred years. He also discussed about preventing floods and the damage to the people in future. He told the officials to prepare a road map to stop inundation in the years to come. He wanted the officials to come up with permanent plan to stop inundation.

Later, he reached Madhuranagar from Gannavaram airport by road. He went into Madhuranagara area and interacted with the flood victims. The people complained about the damage caused to TVs, Refrigerators, cars and documents. The chief minister promised to help them all and stand by the victims. He said that the officials would visit every house and start enumeration once the water recedes.
