Andhra Pradesh finance minister Payyavula Keshav met Central finance minister Nirmala Sitaraman on Tuesday in New Delhi. He submitted a report to the finance minister on the floods damage caused to the state.
The AP finance minister explained in detail about the devastation. He told her that damages were caused to the Roads and Buildings, Revenue, Panchayat Raj, Electricity, Water supply and other departments. He requested the Central finance minister to be liberal in helping the state.
Later, speaking to the media in Delhi, Keshav said that he had explained about the devastation in the state. He said that the finance minister was positive and likely to extend the support. As the state government is also part of the NDA, expressed confidence that sufficient funds would come from the centre.
Keshav said that roads, electricity and water supply departments have received heavy damage due to floods. The state government is working on preparing a detailed report, he said. He further added that he had submitted an interim report to Nirmala Sitaraman. The detailed report would be ready in a week or so, he said.
The AP finance minister said that chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu was working hard in helping the flood victims. He said that the chief minister was camping in the NTR district collectorate for the past nine days. The chief minister was closely monitoring the relief works in the flood hit areas of Vijayawada.
The finance minister further asserted that life in the flood hit areas would return normalcy in a day or two. The officials are visiting every house and meeting every family in the flood-hit areas, he said.
