YSRCP spokesperson Pothina Mahesh said that the TDP coalition government under the leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, is spreading false narratives by claiming that the boats which hit the Prakasam Barrage gates during the floods belong to YSRCP supporters, in a deliberate effort to divert attention from their own failures in managing the flood situation.
Speaking to the media in Vijayawada here on Monday, the YSRCP Spokesperson questioned whether a few boats could stop a flood with over 10 lakh cusecs of water and ridiculed TDP for such claims. He explained that the boats in question actually belonged to a private owner, Ushaadri, who had no connection to YSRCP. The police, however, arrested Komati Rammohan and Ushaadri and were pressuring them to falsely claim they were YSRCP supporters.
He warned that filing false cases and conducting illegal investigations against innocent individuals would not be tolerated, and legal action would be taken against the responsible officials. He emphasized that the TDP was engaging in “dirty politics” by spreading false propaganda to discredit YSRCP during the flood crisis.
He said that the YSR Congress is ready to face any charge and would fight legal battle. He blamed the TDP-led NDA government for its failure to handle the floods. He said that there was alert from the weather office on August 28 and wondered what the government was doing. He alleged that the government did not take preventive measures in advance to save people from floods.
