Seven agriculture workers were killed in a road accident at Chilakavaripakalu of East Godavari district in the midnight of Tuesday. A minitruck from Borrapalem of T Narasapuram mandal in Eluru district is heading to Tadimalla in Nidadavole mandal of East Godavari district.
As the vehicle reached Chilakavarapakalu it lost control and fell in the fields and overturned. Seven workers in the vehicle died on the spot, while two others survived with major injuries. The vehicle driver escaped unhurt. He is also absconding from the accident spot.
Local DSP Deva Kumar, sub-inspectors Srihari Rao and Subrahmanyam rushed to the spot and started clearing the bodies. The injured were sent to the government hospital in Devarapalli.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and deputy chief minister K Pawan Kalyan expressed shock at the accident. They communicated sympathies to the family members of the deceased. They said that the state government would come to the rescue of the bereaved families.
Pawan Kalyan said that it was a great loss to the families, which are depending on these men, who were killed in the accident.
