The State government had formed a committee to clear the National Highways projects works in the state. The committee would look into all the projects and clear the works like land acquisition, forest lands issues and other works.

There are 105 National Highways Authority of India works being executed in the state, of which 48 works are from the NHAI, while 57 are from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways of India. All these works are for 2,594 kilometers costing Rs 58,817 crore.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways of India officials have met Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu last week and discussed with him the pending issues. Accordingly, the state government had formed a committee with Chief Commissioner of Land Acquisition to take care of the land acquisition in the state.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Roads and Buildings special chief secretary and Chief Ministers Office secretary are the members of the committee to look into the forest lands issue. They would hold consultations with the Central government officials and see that the National Highways projects in the state are completed at the earliest.

There about 15 projects from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways of India where the state government has to acquire lands. The road from Mudireddipalli to Nellore has land acquisition problem in Kadapa district for 7.5 kilometers. The committee has to take up this issue and hold talks with the farmers.

In the Kathipudi to Ongole national highway, the land acquisition problem is pending in the Dr B R Ambedkar Konaseema district. A half-kilometer bypass road at Rajole and 2.5 kilometers bypass road at Pasarlapudi are to be resolved.

The Chilakaluripet to Nakirekal road has problems for its 4 lanes for over 38 kilometers. The forest department did not give clearances for the National Highway projects in Palnadu and Prakasam districts.

The committee would take up these issues and resolve them at the earliest to complete the projects.
