The state government is planning to launch free gas cylinders for women from Diwali this year. Every white card holding family would get three gas cylinders free of cost per year. This was announced by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu at the NDA meeting held in Mangalagiri on Wednesday.
Three gas cylinders for a family was one of the super six promises that Chandrababu Naidu had made during the 2024 general elections. He promised to give three gas cylinders to every women in the state. However, now they have brought white card as eligibility to receive the benefit.
Chandrababu Naidu said that there is Rs 10 lakh crore debt on the state exchequer. There are another Rs 1 lakh crore pending bills to be cleared from the previous YSR Congress, he said. He alleged that the previous government had borrowed heavily damaging economic structure of the state. The present government is working to restore the state’s economy, he said.
The previous YSR Congress government had also diverted the Central government funds, Chandrababu Naidu said. He alleged that the financial mismanagement was so much that it was taking a lot of time for the present government to rectify it. He blamed previous chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy for the misrule and alleged that the government had taken Andhra Pradesh back to 25 years.
He said that there was no money to be paid to the employees as salaries during the last five years. The employees had to wait for months together to get their salaries. Now, the present government was paying the salaries to the government employees on the first day of every month, he said.
He said that when he took over, there was no money in the exchequer. The government was not able to pay even salaries, he said. However, the government was working calculated and running the show, he said. He said that NDA would deliver every promise that was made during the general election.
He sought the cooperation from the Central government to run the show in the state. He said that Polavarma and Amaravati projects are to be completed in the next five years. The first phase of Polavaram would be completed in the next two years, Chandrababu Naidu said.
