CPI-M state secretariat member, Ch Baburao, on Wednesday criticized the state government for not releasing financial assistance to the flood victims. He said that chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu had announced that the government would extend financial assistance to the flood victims by September 17. He alleged that the government had failed to fulfill the promise.
He also blamed the Central government for not releasing any financial support to the state government for flood relief works. He said that union minister Bhupatiraju Srinivasa Varma had visited Vijayawada, but not the flood victims. He wondered how the Central Minister had skipped visiting the flood victims.
Baburao wanted the Central government to release Rs 10,000 crore financial support to the State government to help the flood victims. He said that the MPs and the Central Ministers from the state should take up the issue with the central government and see that funds are released to the state at the earliest.
He blamed chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for not releasing financial assistance to the flood victims. He asked the chief minister to take the support of all political parties in the state in getting financial assistance from the Central government.
He said that the state and the Central governments have ignored the plight of the flood victims. Though after 17 days, the government had not gone to the rescue of the flood victims, Baburao said. Lakhs of people were affected in the floods and the government did not give them any financial support, he said.
Baburao led the party’s food supply to the flood victims on the day. The party had so far provided food to 1.25 lakh people in the last 17 days. The party leaders and the cadre have been with the flood victims helping them to revive their lives.
