No stay, demolish it, High Court tells officials

The Andhra Pradesh high court had directed the officials to demolish the unauthorized construction in the coastal regulation zone in Visakhapatnam. The court constitutional bench headed by chief justice, Justice Dheeraj Singh Thakur and Chimalapati Ravi directed the officials of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation to demolish the unauthorized construction in the CRZ.

YSR Congress Parliamentary Party leader V Viajayasai Reddy’s daughter Neha Reddy had constructed a compound wall in the CRZ I on Bheemili Beach area in Visakhapatnam. The court said that there was no stay order on the issue. Do your work, the court told the officials.

Neha Reddy’s advocate Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy told the court that the compound wall was not in the CRZ I. He told the court that it was in the CRZ II and was not against the rules. The court told the advocate that the photographs shown to the court does not suggest that the compound wall is in the CRZ II. The structure is very close to CRZ I, the court said.

Jana Sena corporator Peethala Murthy Yadav had filed the petition in the court seeking demolition of the compound wall. The court heard the case on Wednesday and directed the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation officials to demolish the unauthorized structure.

Government special prosecutor S Pranathi told the court that the government had served a notice Neha Reddy seeking clarification on the total stretch of the land. However, Neha Reddy did not respond to the notice, she told the court.

She requested the court to post the case for another hearing as it would help the government and the officials to get clarification from Neha Reddy. The court then posted the case to September 25 for next hearing.
