The adulterated ghee was sent back to the supplier, said Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams executive officer J Shyamala Rao. He told the popular website The Print that they have noticed adulterated ghee in two tankers on July 6, this year. The tanker was sent back to the supplier and the ghee was not used in any of the activities of the TTD, he told The Print website.

The officials of the TTD found adulterated ghee in four tankers out of 10 sent by A R Dairy from Tamil Nadu. These tankers were received on July 6 and July 12. The samples were sent to the National Dairy Development Board, the executive officer said.

The NDDB had identified animal fat in the ghee in these tankers, he said and added that those tankers were sent back to the supplier. In all, five agencies were supplying ghee to the TTD of which A R Dairy ghee was found to be adulterated, the executive officer told The Print website.

Meanwhile, senior BJP leader and former Andhra Pradesh chief secretary I Y R Krishna Rao discounted the use of adulterated ghee in laddu preparation. He said that the officials at the TTD would check the quality of ghee and every other produce procured for the TTD. They reject these products if found adulterated or not according to the standards of the TTD, Krishna Rao said.

If the products are not according to the standards of the TTD, the officials would reject it and there is no scope for the use, Krishna Rao said. If Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was speaking about the NDDB report, the ghee in those tankers was rejected and returned. So where is the question of laddu adulteration, Krishna Rao asked.
