Law college in Amaravati in 100 acres, says Naidu

Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday said that the state government would give 100 acres to the Bar Council of India to establish a law college. He said that the Bar Council of India had come forward to establish a law college in the state. He said that he had proposed the law college to come up in Amaravati which they have agreed.

The chief minister held a review meeting with the officials of the law department at Amaravati on the day. He told the officials that the government is also ready to establish high court bench in Kurnool. He said that his government was in favour of having a high court bench in Kurnool.  The next cabinet meeting would take up the issue and pass a resolution. The resolution would be sent to the Central government for establishing the high court bench in Kurnool, the chief minister said.

The chief minister further said that the government had dec ided to increase the stipend to the junior lawyers by Rs 10,000. He asked the officials to start the process to increase the stipend for the junior lawyers. He also told them to start the process to establish an academy to train the junior lawyers in the state. The academy would also come up in Amaravati, he said.

Earlier in the day, the chief minister held a review meeting with the officials of Minority Welfare Department. He told the officials to start the work to complete the Haj House in Kadapa and Christian House in Guntur. The two projects were started during the previous TDP regime but were stopped during the YSR Congress regime, he said.

The chief minister also directed the officials to take steps to protect the properties of the Muslims. The Waqf lands are to be  protected, he said and asked the officials to take steps to identify the Waqf lands in the state.
