YSR Congress leaders Devineni Avinash and MLC Talasila Raghuram were not cooperating with the police, said the Mangalagiri Inspector Srinivasa Reddy. He said that they were not helping the investigating officials and giving information.
The two were, among others, booked in the attack on TDP office case at Mangalagiri police station. It was alleged that the YSR Congress activists led by Avinash, Raghuram, MLC Lella Appi Reddy, attacked the TDP office, on October 19, 2021. The activists came from the YSR Congress central office in Tadepalli and attacked the TDP office. They destroyed the furniture in the office and beat up some TDP activists.
The police have already arrested Bapatla MP Nandigam Suresh in the case and he is currently serving the remand period. Avinash and Raghuram approached the Andhra Pradesh high court and later Supreme Court for anticipatory bail. The court did not grant them anticipatory bail but wanted them to be available to the police for questioning. The court also seized their passports preventing them from travelling abroad.
The Mangalagiri police have summoned these two leaders to the police station on Tuesday. The police summoned Raghuram at 10 am and Avinash at 12.30 pm. They questioned the two leaders for one hour each.
The police said that the two leaders were not cooperating with the police. They were saying that they have forgotten everything or not aware of anything, the police said. The two leaders were not giving any information about the incident, the police said.
The police have already suspended an inspector, V Bhushanam and two sub-inspectors in the case and ordered departmental enquiry.
