Politics has become a dirty game these days. There are no permanent friends or foes to any leader. There is no ideology either. The leaders move as per the flow. They cross fence easily keeping their differences aside, just to be in the limelight. Some do this for money and power.
Three Rajya Sabha members from the YSR Congress have done this, after the party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections. They are going to join the ruling TDP shortly. It is everybody’s knowledge that they were bought like goats in the market.
The TDP had no representation in Rajya Sabha. All the 11 seats from Andhra Pradesh are now with the YSR Congress. To break this, the TDP offered huge money to the three members and bought them successfully.
Those who have resigned to their Rajya Sabha membership and set to join the TDP might say many things. But people know for what they are doing this.
Mopidevi Venkata Ramana had been a close associate of YSR Congress president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy for the past a decade or more. He went to jail along with Jagan Mohan Reddy. Well, Jagan Mohan Reddy too took Mopidevi as his supporter or a friend.
When Mopidevi lost the 2019 general election from Repalle, Jagan Mohan Reddy took him to Legislative Council, and took him into the state cabinet. Later, he was sent to Rajya Sabha. When the YSR Congress won 151 Assembly seats, Jagan Mohan Reddy had many MLAs to take them into the cabinet. But he took Mopidevi who lost the election.
What was the injustice done to Mopidevi by Jagan Mohan Reddy? Was it not the money and power that was offered by TDP and its chief N Chandrababu Naidu? It is everybody’s knowledge. People have become wise enough to understand the politics of the day.
A BC leader, R Krishnaiah, was no where when Jagan Mohan Reddy picked him up for the Rajya Sabha seat. He was on the edge of losing his image, particularly among the younger generations of the BC castes. He was a champion of the BCs in 1990s and 2000s, but not in 2020s.
Krishnaiah was betrayed by Chandrababu Naidu and now he is going back to the TDP. Is it not a betrayal? Who will believe these leaders if they cross fence like this? Will politics and politicians have any respect if they betray the leaders and cross the fence?!
