YSRCP President and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy declared that his religion is humanity and postponed his trip to Tirumala to ensure that public attention remains focused on Chandrababu Naidu’s wrongdoings.
Speaking to the media at the party central office here on Wednesday, the former Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed concern that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was attempting to divert attention from real issues by raising unnecessary debates about religious declarations instead of addressing the actual problems. He revealed that conspiracies were being made to obstruct his visit to Tirumala. He pointed out that YSRCP leaders were being placed under house arrest, while BJP workers from neighboring states were being brought in. Thousands of police officers were deployed, creating an unnecessary law and order situation. He pointed out that both he and his late father, YS Rajasekhara Reddy, as Chief Ministers, had followed all traditions, including offering silk robes to the deity for five years. He mentioned that he had visited the temple many times, even before becoming Chief Minister, and questioned why a religious declaration was needed now. He clarified that while he reads the Bible privately, he publicly respects all religions, including Hinduism, Islam, and Sikhism, and emphasized that his true religion is humanity.
He criticized CM Naidu for spreading lies about the purity of the Tirupati laddu and accused him of diverting attention from his government’s failures over the last 100 days. He detailed the procurement process of ghee used in the laddu preparation, emphasizing that robust checks are in place to ensure quality, and noted that ghee supplies had been rejected both during Naidu’s tenure and his own government if they failed quality tests. He also clarified that the issue with the ghee supply occurred after Naidu’s government had come to power, and yet Naidu falsely claimed that adulterated ghee was used.
Jagan questioned why Naidu was being shielded by the BJP, despite his actions damaging the reputation of TTD and Lord Venkateswara’s prasadam. He called for BJP leaders to reprimand Naidu for his actions. Jagan emphasized that his religion is humanity and that he respects all faiths. He questioned why political motives were being associated with religious declarations, asserting that such practices go against the secular values of the Indian Constitution.
Jagan urged YSRCP supporters and the public to perform pujas in their towns to ensure that Naidu’s sins do not affect the state. He called for prayers to protect the state from the repercussions of Naidu’s actions and requested that the anger of Lord Venkateswara be directed solely at Naidu.
Jagan appealed to the BJP to demonstrate sincerity by not allowing Naidu to go unpunished for his actions, which have caused disrespect to the sanctity of the Tirupati laddu and the temple itself. He stressed that Naidu must be held accountable for his actions, and political and religious leaders should unite in condemning Naidu’s attempts to bring religion into politics for personal gain.
