Expressing the YSRCP’s strong opposition to the Wakf Amendment Bill, former MLA Hafeez Khan mentioned that a written statement had been submitted by Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) member V. Vijayasai Reddy and himself to JPC Chairman Jagdambika Pal, outlining their reasons for opposing the bill.

Speaking to the media in Hyderabad here on Saturday, Hafeez Khan explained that the party is against the bill as it poses potential harm to the Muslim community. He highlighted that the bill seeks to give authority over Wakf lands to district collectors, which undermines the Wakf Tribunal. This, he stated, would cause significant difficulties for the Muslim community, which is why they are strongly opposing it.

He also mentioned that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has made it clear that the party stands against the bill. Both Mithun Reddy in the Lok Sabha and Vijayasai Reddy in the Rajya Sabha have voiced strong opposition, explaining the reasons behind their stance.

Additionally, Hafeez Khan criticized the TDP for playing a double game on the Wakf Bill. He claimed that while the TDP supported the bill in Parliament, they are now creating confusion at the JPC level. He pointed out that if the TDP had genuinely opposed the bill in Parliament, it wouldn’t have reached the JPC. Instead, they are now engaging in theatrics and once again betraying the Muslim community. He urged the Muslim community to take note of the TDP’s stance and its repeated betrayal on such issues.
