Party senior leaders Velampalli Srinivas, Malladi Vishnu, Talasila Raghuram, Nallagatloa Swamy Das, Mondithoka Jagan Mohan Rao, P Gowtham Reddy, Rayana Bhagyalakshmi, and other leaders of the NTR district met in a hotel on Monday. YSR Congress NTR district unit president Devineni Avinash was in the chair.
The leaders discussed about the plight of the flood victims in the city. Though even after a month, the state government could not help the flood victims, they said. The compensation was not paid to every family, who suffered the floods, the YSR Congress leaders said.
They further said that the government had paid compensation only to 40 per cent of the victims, while the 60 per cent of the victims are yet to receive any support or help from the state government. The YSR Congress would shortly hold a protest in support of the flood victims, said Velampalli Srinivas.
Malladi Vishnu said that the NDA government in the state had failed to fulfill its promises. People are now complaining about the failures of the TDP-led NDA government, he said. The super six promises were not implemented in the last 100 days of the government, he said.
Devineni Avinash said that the government had failed to live up to the expectations. He said that the TDP government had promised several things to the people during the general election. However, after coming to power, the TDP-led NDA government had failed to roll out the promises they have made, he said.
Avinash also criticized the government for not helping the flood victims of Vijayawada. He said that the victims have lost many things in the floods. People remained in the flood water for nine days in the water and have lost everything. He said that the state government had promised Rs 25,000 for every family living in the ground floor and Rs 10,000 in the first floor. But not many people have received this money, he said.
