The comments by the judges at the Supreme Court on Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) laddu contamination was a slap on the face of chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, said former MLA and TTD former chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy. Speaking to media at Tirupati, after the court’s hearing on the cases, Karunakar Reddy alleged that Chandrababu Naidu had tried to politicise the Tirupati laddu issue.
He alleged that Chandrababu Naidu tried to mislead people to divert their attention from his failures in the last 100 days. He said that Naidu had failed to fulfil his promises made to people during the elections. The government, even after 100 days of its governance could not start implementing the Super Six promises, he said.
He said that to divert the attention of the people and used Sri Venkateswara Swamy’s prasadam. He said that Naidu had told people a bigger lie that the laddu had the contents of animal fat and other foreign elements. There was uproar among the devotees of Lord Venkateswara, he said.
He said that Chandrababu Naidu made these comments even after the TTD executive officer J Shyamala Rao had said that contaminated ghee was sent back and not used for laddu preparation. Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, Nara Lokesh and every minister in the state cabinet have said the same lie to make people believe that the laddu was contaminated.
He said that he had demanded an enquiry either by the CBI or a sitting judge of Supreme Court. He said that the YSR Congress government never allowed any contaminated food to enter temples. The TTD was considered and treated as a holy place by the YSR Congress government, he said.
Karunakar Reddy said that the Supreme Court’s observation over the laddu contamination exposed the politics of Chandrababu Naidu and his team. He said that Lord Venkateswara is a powerful God and would have punished the YSR Congress leaders if they committed a crime. Because Chandrababu Naidu committed a crime, the Supreme Court had found him fault, he said.
