YSR Congress former MLA Malladi Vishnu came down heavily on TDP govt for failing in flood relief and enumeration process in recent Vijayawada floods calling it a complete failure and demanded that renumeration be done by October 4 and urged the government to pressure the central government to declare the floods a national disaster and secure funds.

Speaking at a press conference held in Vijayawada, Vishnu said the government is leaving flood victims helpless, especially in the enumeration process, which he claimed was full of inconsistencies. While the government claimed to have transferred cash relief to 97% of victims, the ground reality was entirely different. He mentioned that evidence of irregularities in the enumeration had been submitted to the authorities, but no action had been taken. He expressed his anger over TDP leaders allegedly selecting beneficiaries from the secretariats and pointed out that 22,185 people had still not received any relief.

Vishnu further criticized the administration, stating that the lack of effective governance, sincerity, and supervision among officials had left victims struggling for over a month. He condemned the government for failing to issue proper flood warnings and provide adequate assistance, stating it as an “utter failure” in handling the crisis. Despite submitting a report of Rs 7,000 crore to the central government, only Rs 600 crore in partial aid was sanctioned, which Vishnu said was insufficient.

He also reminded that cash transfers were not new to this government, as Rs 2.71 lakh crore was transferred without issues during the previous administration. He criticized the current government’s failure to distribute even Rs 600 crore efficiently, which had caused confusion among the victims. The situation regarding vehicle claims was even worse, with victims receiving only a fraction of what they had lost. Vishnu blamed the government’s negligence for the collapse of the workers’ livelihood and said repeated applications to the secretariats by victims had yielded no justice. He warned that YSRCP would launch a state wide protest on behalf of the victims if the  state government failed to act.
