The capital city Amaravati would be connected with one more national highway. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) had approved the proposal recently. The high way would be completed in the next two years.
This was disclosed by Union Minister of State for Rural Development, Dr Pemmasani Chandrasekhar in Guntur. He addressed a review meeting of various developmental works in Guntur with the district collector, S Nagalakshmi and other officials.
He told the meeting that the NHAI had agreed to expand the Vinukonda-Guntur national highway to Amaravati. This would also be developed into a four-lane road, he said. The road was initially planned for the two-lane. It would now be expanded to four-lane, the minister said.
The new road would also serve as the outer ring road for Guntur city, the union minister said. The NHAI would take up the work and complete the road, the minister said. MLAs Burla Ramanjaneyulu, Dhulipala Narendra Kumar, and NHAI officials were present at the review meeting.
The Minister instructed the NHAI officials to complete the work at the earliest. He told them that the state government would complete the land acquisition work and hand over the land to the NHAI. He further said that the state government would also take up electrification of the national highway from Vinukonda to Amaravati, once completed.
