The Supreme Court had reprimanded chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for speaking about the adulteration of laddu in Tirumala, said former chief minister and YSR Congress president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. Speaking to media persons on Friday, Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the Supreme Court’s decision was a slap on the face of Chandrababu Naidu.
Speaking to media, Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) executive officer, J Shyamala Rao, had admitted that the adulterated ghee was not used for the making of laddus. The adulterated ghee tankers were sent back to the supplier. However, Chandrababu Naidu continues his lies and says that the laddu was adulterated, he said.
Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the Supreme Court had found Naidu’s public talk as objectionable and sought to advise the chief minister to restrain from making public statements on the laddus adulteration. The court had advised the political leaders not to drag the Gods into politics, he said. However, he regretted that Chandrababu Naidu and his team continue to politicize the issue and speak in the public, he said.
Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the Supreme Court had clearly understood what Chandrababu Naidu and his team have done in the laddu case. The Supreme Court had understood how Naidu and his team played politics on Tirupati laddu, he said.
He regretted that the TDP was continuing the campaign against him and his YSR Congress, even after the Supreme Court had admonished Chandrababu Naidu. They continue to blame him and his YSR Congress in the controversy, he said.
Jagan Mohan Reddy further said that the Supreme Court had kept the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by Chandrababu Naidu, which itself speaks about the mishandling of the issue by the chief minister. The supreme court had constituted a special SIT to investigate into the issue, he said.
He said that the YSR Congress government had sent back the adulterated ghee 18 times between 2019 and 2024. The YSR Congress government had given highest respect to the temple issues, he said. On the other hand, Chandrababu Naidu had neither love or respect for the Hindu religion or Tirupati laddu, he said. He further added that as Naidu had no respect for laddu, he dragged the issue into politics.
Jagan Mohan Reddy appealed to the people to go through the proceedings of the Supreme Court and find out how Chandrababu Naidu had misled them with his political statement on the quality of laddus. He said that Naidu had tried to use even the Tirupati temple for his politics. He demanded that Chandrababu Naidu apologize to the people for his misleading and political statements on Tirupati laddu in the light of the Supreme Court observations.
