The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) on Tuesday directed the IAS officers to go to Andhra Pradesh. The IAS officers filed a petition in the CAT opposing the orders of the Central government sending four IAS officers and two IPS officers to Andhra Pradesh.

IAS officers, Vakati Aruna, K Amrapali, A Vani Prasad, D Ronald Ross and G Srujana field the petition in the CAT opposing the directions of the Central government departing them to Andhra Pradesh cadre.

The CAT said that people of Andhra Pradesh were suffering due to the floods and wanted to know whether the IAS officers were not ready to serve those people n the hour of crisis. The CAT further said that the DOPT had the rights to give postings to the IAS officers in the country.

Karuna, Amrapali, Vani Prasad and Ronald Ross who have been working in Telangana were asked to go to Andhra Pradesh. Another IAS officer Srujana who is currently working in Andhra Pradesh was asked to go to Telangana.

The IAS officers challenged the Central government’s order and wanted to continue in the states where they are working. The IAS officers told the CAT that the Central government did not consider their requests at the time of allotment of cadre at the time of appointment.

The CAT told the IAS officers that it would not quash the orders of the DOPT directing them to go to Andhra Pradesh. It also dismissed the petition by the IAS officers seeking dismissal of the DOPT orders.
