YSRCP Chief and former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy slammed Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, stating that he masterminded a massive sand loot in Andhra Pradesh that has crippled the state’s revenue and left the people to suffer under rising costs.

Taking to social media platform ‘X’, Jagan Mohan Reddy firmly stated that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s government, instead of keeping its promises of free sand and transparency, has actually doubled the sand prices compared to the YSRCP’s time in power, making people suffer because of Naidu’s deceptive and corrupt actions.

Jagan pointed out the irony in Naidu’s actions, comparing him to a thief who distracts people and then loots behind their backs. He reminded everyone that during his time as Chief Minister, the state at least earned money from sand sales, but now even that revenue is gone.  Jagan questioned where the free sand promised by Naidu during the elections is, challenging him to show any place in the state where sand is actually free. He also accused Naidu of setting up a sand mafia, making ordinary people struggle with high prices while his close associates profit from the situation.

Jagan revealed how the TDP leaders, right after the election results, focused on the state’s sand supplies. He mentioned that almost half of the 80 lakh tons of sand stored by the YSRCP government to avoid shortages during the rainy season vanished within a month of Naidu becoming Chief Minister. Jagan stressed that this looting was organized by TDP leaders and was similar to the corruption seen during Naidu’s previous time in office.

Jagan reminded that, between 2014 and 2019, the state treasury did not earn a single rupee from sand sales due to Chandrababu Naidu’s corrupt schemes. He stated Naidu has set up a complicated system of false tenders and memos, which gave control of the sand business to his close associates. Jagan expressed strong outrage at how Naidu ignored legal rules, twisted policies for personal gain, and allowed sand looting on a massive scale, causing the state to lose thousands of crores in revenue.

Jagan lashed out at Chandrababu Naidu for failing to introduce a clear sand policy, even after four months in office, and accused him of operating in secrecy. He pointed out that Naidu quietly announced tenders with only two days’ notice during the Dasara festival, ensuring his close associates continued to control the sand business and block fair competition.

Jagan highlighted the transparent sand policy of the YSRCP government, which kept prices affordable for consumers while generating revenue for the state. He emphasized that his administration curbed corruption by using e-tenders and supplied sand at Rs 475 per ton, with Rs 375 going to the state treasury, resulting in an annual income of Rs 750 crores without burdening the public with high prices.
