The Andhra Pradesh state government had made some changes to the sand policy on Friday. Mines department principal secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena, issued orders on the day bringing some changes to the sand policy.
The government on October 2 issued orders releasing sand policy. It had given free sand to the bullock carts for the villagers near the streams and rivulets. Those who have bullock carts can take the sand free of cost from the streams and rivulets.
However, some individuals have started taking sand free of cost by tractors. The police and other officials have started booking cases against the tractor drivers and owners. This had become a nuisance in the state in the sand policy. There have been complaints from the tractor owners about the cases.
Following this, the state government amended the sand policy on Friday. The government allowed the tractor owners to take sand free of cost from the local streams and rivulets along with the bullock carts.
The locals are now allowed to take the sand that they require free of cost. They would have to pay only the dredging cost. The sand is totally free for the bullock carts and tractors now.
