Deputy chief minister and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan on Monday visited Gurla village of Vizianagaram district and interacted with the diarrhea victims. He spoke to the victims directly and collected information about the diarrhea.
Earlier in the day, he stopped at the S S R Peta village and inspected the drinking water plant. He also spoke to the officials about the spread of diarrhea in the village that took ten lives. He also visited the local government general hospital and consoled the diarrhea victims who are being treated there.
He announced Rs 1 lakh exgratia from his personal account. He said that the government would conduct a survey and hold a review on the situation. The government would also announce compensation to those who died due to diarrhea.
Speaking to media, Pawan Kalyan said that the Champavati water was contaminated. Champavati river water is being supplied to the Gurla village from S S R Peta water plant. He said that the water supplied from S S R Peta was contaminated resulting in the outbreak of the diarrhea.
The deputy chief minister said that the state government had appointed senior IAS officer Vijayanand to enquire into the incident. The government would take a call once the report is tabled. The senior IAS officer would enquire into the incident and give his report.
