YSR Congress MLA Dr. Dasari Sudha and MLC D.C. Govind Reddy expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident in Badvel, where a student lost her life after being attacked by a man who was obsessed with her and raised serious concerns about the increasing violence against women under the TDP coalition government, calling for urgent action to address the issue.
Speaking to the media in Badevl, they criticized the TDP coalition government for neglecting its promises to the people and pointed out that incidents like the one in Kurnool and now in Badvel reflect their failure in ensuring women’s safety. They emphasized that during YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government, significant measures were taken for the protection of women, including the implementation of the Disha App. However, they questioned the current government’s silence and inaction on such serious matters, despite having a woman as the Home Minister.
Recalling the recent gang rape incident in Hindupur during Vijayadashami, the leaders highlighted that such heinous crimes are becoming more frequent. They condemned the Badvel attack as a barbaric act, blaming the coalition government for weakening the strong Disha initiative that was introduced by the previous YSRCP government.
They urged Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to prioritize the safety and dignity of the people over political power, demanding that the government take strict action to prevent further atrocities. They also called upon law enforcement officials to respond appropriately for these issues and warned that YSRCP would hold the government accountable if no action is taken.
