Former chief minister and YSR Congress president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy said that there is no law and order in Andhra Pradesh. He said that there is no security for women in the state.

Jagan Mohan Reddy visited the family members of Sahana, who died in the Government General Hospital in Guntur after she was raped by her friend and his supporters. He said that the accused, Naveen, is a close associate of Union Minister of State for Rural Development Pemmasani Chandrasekhar. He also said that the accused also has photos taken with chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged that the TDP activists and leaders were resorting to crime and looting in the state. The police were supporting them, he alleged. He said that Naveen had tried to get some treatment to Sahana in several hospitals. Later, he brought her to the Government General Hospital where he admitted the girl. He left the scene when Sahana’s parents reached the hospital, Jagan Mohan Reddy said.

The former chief minister said that the TDP activists were resorting to crime against women in the state. They were using their links in the ruling TDP whenever the police intercepted them, he alleged. He said that two TDP activists have raped two girls in Palasa of Srikakulam district. He alleged that the TDP leaders were trying to settle the case outside the police station.

He also recalled a gang rape on mother-in-law and daugther0in-law in Hindupur a couple of days ago. He regretted that local MLA did not visit the victim’s family.

The former chief minister also said that a Class IX girl was raped and killed by TDP activist Suresh in Kuppagondupalem village of Ramballi mandal in Anakapalli district. The police did not take any action against the accused, he said.

Jagan Mohan Reddy said that over 77 women and girls were attacked or killed in the last four months of NDA regime in the state. Some were killed by the accused, while some committed suicide due to harassment. He alleged that Chandrababu Naidu and Lokesh were encouraging the TDP activists to resort to this sort of crime against women.

Jagan Mohan Reddy demanded that the state government accept these crimes and apologize to the people. He also demanded that the state government pay compensation to the victims and punish the accused.
