Andhra Pradesh Women Commission former chairperson and senior YSR Congress leader Vasireddy Padma on Wednesday quit the party. She released an open letter to the people on the day announcing her resignation from the party.

She worked as the president of the women’s wing of the YSR Congress earlier. She was also the spokesperson of the party. She played key role in several activities of the party during the last 10 years.

She said that Jagan Mohan Reddy was now talking about Good Book for those who work for the party. However, she said that Good Book is not what is required for the party leaders and activists but a Heart Book.

Padma further said that the YSR Congress is not a business institution but a political party. She said that Jagan Mohan Reddy was now ignoring those who sacrificed their lives for the party, the leaders and the cadre.  He is now getting ready to betray the leaders and the activists, she alleged.

She further said that Jagan Mohan Reddy does not feel responsible to run the party. He also never felt responsible while being the chief minister of the state. She said that Jagan Mohan Reddy had no moral responsibility for the society.

Padma said that she had worked for the party with commitment and dedication despite some problems and disappointments with the leadership. After the 2024 general elections and the peoples’ mandate, she said that she had reviewed her position in the party. She further said that she had decided to quit the party for the time being.

She announced her resignation to the party. But she did not announce what would be her next course of action. She is not the only leader who had quit the party after the 2024 general elections. Three MPs from Rajya Sabha have already quit the party. Some former ministers and some former MLAs too have quit the party.

Her resignation to the party may not have any impact on the party as of now. It may also not have any impact on the next exit from the party. The party will be watching many more leaders quitting the party in the next five years and the new leadership emerging.
