The State government would start implementing the free gas cylinders scheme across the state from Diwali, October 31, this year. The state government is currently working on linking the data from the gas companies with the civil supplies department.
This was announced in Amaravati by Minister for Civil Supplies Nadendla Manohar on Friday. The Minister said that the state government would pay the money back into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries within 48 hours after the delivery of the gas cylinder.
The Minister said that the NDA had promised three gas cylinders free for the women having the white ration cards in the state. This promise was one of the Super Six promises made to the people by the NDA in the recent elections to the state Assembly.
The Minister said that the government had decided to pay Rs 894 crore to the oil companies. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu would formally hand over the cheque to the oil companies on October 29 in Amaravati.
The government would permit three gas cylinders to be taken by the white card holder families in the state. Three cylinders would be given for year for the family, the Minister said. He said that the government is linking the Aadhar card, white ration card and the mobile number of the consumers.
Once the gas cylinder is booked, the civil supplies department would get the communication from the gas company. The civil supplies department would also get the message from the gas company once the cylinder is delivered.
The gas companies have also agreed to deliver the gas cylinder in 48 hours in the rural areas and 24 hours in the city and town areas, the Minister said.
