The CPI-M on Friday held a protest at the MRO office in Bhavanipuram, Vijayawada, demanding justice for the flood victims. They blamed the officials and the MLAs for not helping them even after 55 days of the floods.

They also blamed the leaders of the ruling combine for not being available for them. They wondered why these leaders were not visiting them these days despite their repeated please. They alleged that the leaders of the ruling combine were not visiting th em nor even granting them audience whenever they visited their offices.

Vijayawada West MLA Y S Chowdary was not even meeting them when they visit his office in the city, they alleged. They further said that the MLAs was only sending his personal assistants to meet them but he is not coming to them, they said.

Addressing the protesters, CPI-M state secretariat member Ch Baburao blamed the officials and the ruling party leaders for not addressing the problems of the flood victims. He said that the officials were not accepting the applications from the people seeking compensation.

Baburao said that chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu had promised compensation to every family. But in reality, the officials were not giving them the compensation, he said. He alleged that the officials were not accepting new applications nor visiting the flood victims.

He wondered why the officials were not inspecting the applicants to verify whether they were real flood victims or not. He said that the government had promised insurance cover for the damaged houses, besides the compensation by the government. However, neither of it was given to the victims, he said.

He blamed the leaders of the TDP, BJP and Jana Sena for ignoring the flood victims. He also found fault with the leaders for blaming the victims for holding protest. He said that people have waited for 50 days for the government help. As there is no sign of government support, they were holding the protest, he said.
