YSR Congress spokesperson Jupudi Prabhakar Rao condemned the removal of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s name from his statue at Swaraj Maidan in Vijayawada, calling it a blatant act of disrespect towards the Constitution’s architect.

Speaking to the media at the party central office, he stated that the TDP coalition government’s neglect of the Ambedkar statue and name removal shows clear disregard for Ambedkar’s legacy and for the public’s sentiments.

Prabhakar Rao expressed concerns that this incident aligns with a larger conspiracy to replace the statue and transfer the Swaraj Maidan area to the Lulu Group for development purposes. He criticized the government for its inaction, pointing out that when former Chief Minister YS Jagan’s name was also removed from the site, no accountability was ensured.

He further alleged that leaders from TDP and Jana Sena have been supporting anti-Ambedkar policies that align with BJP, aiming to erase Ambedkar’s legacy from the public’s memory. He urged the government to arrest the perpetrators immediately, warning that if they fail to act, the Ambedkar community would be compelled to respond strongly.
