Minister for Human Resources Development and IT, Nara Lokesh, met Google Cloud chief executive officer, Thomas Kurian, in San Francisco, as part of his tour in the United States. He invited the Google Cloud CEO to be partner with the state government.
Lokesh also invited the Google Cloud CEO to open Google Cloud data center in Visakhapatnam. He told him that several IT companies were coming to Visakhapatnam and establishing their units. He promised complete support from the state government if the Google Cloud opens its data center.
Lokesh also invited the Google Cloud CEO to partner with the state government in imparting skill development to the youth. He also wanted Thomas Kurian to assist the state government in establishing smart cities programme in the state.
Lokesh requested Thomas Kurian to partner with the state government in e-governance and digital education for the students. The Google CEO told Lokesh that he would discuss the issue with his colleagues and take a decision.
Lokesh said that the present NDA government is developing Andhra Pradesh as cloud infrastructure hub. The government is also focusing on establishing data centers in Visakhapatnam, he said. The Google cloud data center would come up in the PPP mode, he said.
The Minister also invited the investors to come to Andhra Pradesh. He said that Visakhapatnam is being developed as global tech hub. He wanted the investors to come to the state and invest. He promised total support from the government for any investor.
