Naidu visits Rushikonda, inspects buildings

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday inspected the new buildings constructed on Rushikonda hill in Visakhapatnam. He said that the buildings would be heavy for the government to maintain. He further said that he would hold a meeting with the officials and decide on what to do with these buildings.

Naidu said that a person who dreamt of remaining in power permanently had built those buildings. He spent over Rs 500 crore to construct these buildings, he said. He also added that marbles and electrical appliances, home appliances, furniture was all imported from various countries.

The chief minister said that even Kings in the past have not built these much luxurious buildings. He said that deputy chief minister K Pawan Kalyan and tourism minister Kandula Durgesh have inspected these buildings. They were also shocked to see these buildings and the furniture. It would not be possible even for the tourism department to maintain these buildings, he said.

A criminal had come into politics and destroyed every institution for five years, Chandrababu Naidu said. He wondered how an elected leader by the people would spend so much on a building for his camp office. He said that he and Pawan Kalyan have tried in the past to inspect these buildings, but were denied entry. Now, people have given them the power to inspect these buildings. He said that he was shocked to see the luxurious spending on these buildings by the previous government.

Chandrababu Naidu said that the previous government had constructed seven blocks on the hill at a cost of Rs 500 crore. The present government would study these buildings and prepare a report to find how to u utilize them. He said that he had asked the officials to give a report on utilization of these buildings. The chief minister said that he would discuss the report with the people and his cabinet colleagues and take a decision on how to use these buildings.

The chief minister further said that he had asked the officials of the electricity department on the electricity consumption and the bill. The officials were preparing a report on the electricity consumption by these buildings, he said.
