The Election Commission on Monday issued notification for the election of Teacher MLC in the state. The election would be held for the teacher MLC in the undivided two Godavari districts.
The election was required following the death of sitting MLC Shaik Sabji in a road accident on December 15, 2023. He represented the constituency on the Progressive Democratic Front. His term stands till March 29, 2027.
The EC would receive nominations from November 11 to 18 and scrutiny the nominations on November 19. The election would be held on December 5, 2024. `The counting would be held on December 9, the election commission said on the day.
The PDF is very strong in the two undivided districts. The PDF leaders have been touring the two districts ever since Sabji died in the road accident. The YSR Congress was also strong in the two districts. It is to be seen if the YSR Congress would contest the election or not.
It is also to be seen if the ruling TDP coalition would contest the election or not. The teachers wing of the TDP is equally strong in the district. Since the party is in power now in the state, it is to be seen if the party would contest the election or not.
