Deputy chief minister K Pawan Kalyan, on Monday said that things would be different if he takes the home Ministry. He asked home minister Vangalapudi Anitha to be strict with the officials and bring down the crime rate in the state.

Speaking at a public meeting in Pithapuram on the day, Pawan Kalyan expressed displeasure over the behaviour of some of the police officials in the state. He said that they have stopped working and were considering caste and religious issues. He said that the criminals have no caste and religion and wanted the police officials to act strictly against the criminals. He also told them not to look at the political affiliation of the criminals.

He said that the police were not acting against the criminals. He wondered why the police have not arrested an accused who raped a three-year old girl. He said that previous chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy did not respond when 30,000 women went missing in the state. The officials too were silent on the issue. However, this government would not remain silent if crime increases in the state. He said that he would act strictly and bring down the crime rate in the state if he takes over the home ministry.

Addressing Director General of Police (DGP), the deputy chief minister said that people were questioning them on the increasing crime rate in the state. He wanted the DGP to take proper care of the safety and security of women in the state. He wanted the police department to stand guarantee for the safety and security of women and young girls in the state.

Pawan Kalyan alleged that the previous YSR Congress government had destroyed every institution in the state. The YSR Congress made the police dysfunctional in the last five years. The police remained spectators to every crime that happened in the state, he said. However, the NDA government would not remain silent if the police acted this way. He wanted the police to start working at least now. He said that people would revolt if the police fail to protect them.
