Cabinet clears drone policy, Rs 1000 cr investment target

The Andhra Pradesh state cabinet on Wednesday, approved the drone policy with a target of Rs 1000 crore investment. Minister for Information and Public Relations and Housing, Kolusu Pardha Saradhi, briefed the media persons about the cabinet decisions.

The cabinet also gave a green signal for restoration of the AP Capital Region Development Authority limit to 8,352 kilometers. The APCRDA would now be extended to parts of Panladu and Bapatla districts. Sattenapalli municipality was also merged with the APCRDA, the Minister said.

The cabinet approved the three bills to be placed in the winter session of the Assembly, which would start on November 11. The AP Excise (Amendment) Act 2024, the AP Prohibition (Amendment) Act 2024 and the AP Indian Made Foreign Liquor bill 2024 were approved in the cabinet meeting. These bills were to ensure quality liquor to be supplied to the consumers in the state, the Minister said.

The cabinet also cleared the AP Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Bill 2024. The government would take serious action against those who indulge in land grabbing across the state. The previous government had encouraged land grabbing at various places, the cabinet felt and emphasized the need to stop land grabbing. The cabinet also felt the need to protect the government lands from being grabbed by the anti-social elements.

The cabinet approved the semiconductors policy in the state. The policy would be implemented till 2029. The semi-conductor companies have established their units in Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharastra states. The Andhra Pradesh state government would also promote semiconductors units to be established in the state. The Central government is giving 50 per cent subsidy to the companies establishing semiconductors units in the state. The state government also proposes to extend 30 per cent subsidy to these companies, the Minister said.

The minister said that the cabinet had approved the Andhra Pradesh Data Centre policy 4.0. This policy would help the state to increase the data center capacity to 200 megawatts. The policy would promote investment in Artificial Intelligence and establish data centers. The cabinet had decided to promote investments in the Artificial Intelligence and data centers in the state, the Minister said.

The cabinet also approved Pithapuram Area Development Authority (PADA) with Pithapuram as headquarters. The PADA would help in the overall development of Pithapuram Assembly constituency. The GO issued restoring the Kuppam Area Development Authority (KADA) and take steps to develop Kuppam Municipality and four mandals in its place.
