Andhra Pradesh would have new legislation to regulate social media, said chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu. He said he would not tolerate anyone who abuses women or the politicians in the social media through their posts. He said that the police would act seriously against all those who misuse the social media.
The chief minister addressed a meeting after inaugurating the Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) at Tallayapalem in Amaravati capital on Thursday. He said that the YSR Congress activists were misusing the social media against development. They are targeting the NDA leaders psychologically and hitting them, he said. He alleged that these social media activists were campaigning against him, deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan and Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha.
He said that he was not scared even for bombs but had to cry when he was insulted with foul language. The YSR Congress had promoted criminals in the party and the social media. The YSR Congress activists misuse the social media with foul and insulting language, he alleged.
He said that the criminals have become politicians these days. He said that they have initially campaigned that Vivekananda Reddy died of cardiac arrest. But later it was found to be a brutal murder, Chandrababu Naidu said. This was the style of these criminals who have been playing major role in the social media. They were insulting women and NDA leaders too, he said. He would not remain silent to such an acts of criminals, the chief minister said.
He blamed former chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy for the present crisis in the power sector. He said that he was the first to introduce reforms in the power sector. He had modernized all sub-stations across the state by 2004. It was he who introduced solar power in the state in 2014, he said. He further said that he would bring more reforms in the power sector and ensure that power bills are within the control.
Chandrababu Naidu said that the Jagan Mohan Reddy government had diverted the Central government funds to various departments. He destroyed the power sector, Naidu said. He also cancelled the power purchase agreements causing heavy loss to the state exchequer, he said. He said that the government had to pay Rs 9 per unit power despite not using it.
The previous government had increased the power tariff nine times in the last five years, Chandrababu Naidu said. He alleged that the previous government had put Rs 32,166 crore burden on the power consumers in the state. However, his government was trying to minimize the power bills for the consumers.
