The ruling NDA had decided to make Jana Sena MLA from Bhimavaram in West Godavari district, Pulaparthi Ramanjaneyulu, as the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in the Assembly. The election is likely to be formal and it is likely to be declared in the Assembly on Friday.
The Opposition YSR Congress MLA and former minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy had filed the nomination. The PAC chairman post is normally given to the opposition and thus the YSR Congress MLA had filed his nomination papers on Thursday.
TDP MLAs Jaggaiapet MLA from NTR district Sriram Rajagopal, Emmiganuru MLA B V Jayanageswara Reddy, Tanuku MLA Arimilli Radha Krishna, Giddaluru MLA, Ashok Reddy, Prathipadu MLA Burla Ramanjaneyulu, Vemuru MLA and former minister Nakka Ananda Babu, S Kota MLA Kolla Lalitha Kumari, also filed their nominate;on papers for the post.
The Jana Sena MLA Pulaparthi Ramanjaneyulu, and BJP MLA, Vishnukumar Raju, also filed their nominations for the post after the YSR Congress MLA Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy filed his papers.
The NDA is likely to announce the name of Jana Sena MLA Ramanjaneyulu for the post. Speaker Chintakayala Ayyannapathrudu is likely to announce the name at the Assembly meeting on Friday.
There would be voting in the Assembly on Friday for the post, if the YSR Congress MLA fails to withdraw his nomination papers. Even if election is held, the YSR Congress has only 11 MLAs in the 175-member Assembly. It would be a cakewalk for the NDA candidate even if the elections are held.
Meanwhile, the NDA is understood to have decided on the names of the Public Undertakings Committee chairman and Estimates Committee chairman in the Assembly. The NDA is understood to have cleared the names of Amudalavalasa MLA Kuna Ravi Kumar for the Public Undertakings Committee chairman, and Mandapet MLA Vegulla Jogeswara Rao for the Estimates Committee chairman post.
