YSR Congress president and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy sharply criticized the TDP coalition government for halting transformative reforms in education, staging routine parents’ meetings as groundbreaking, and failing to deliver on promises like Amma Vodi, leaving parents burdened with costs. He questioned TDP’s actions, from stopping infrastructure upgrades under Nadu-Nedu to undermining schemes like Vidya Deevena, while highlighting the hypocrisy of Naidu’s s coalition leaders misleading citizens with false promises and political stunts instead of addressing genuine educational challenges.

Taking to X, Jagan Mohan Reddy wrote “By changing the name of parent committee meetings which are a regular feature, Chandrababu Naidu’s coalition government is using them as campaign platforms which is very surprising. While nullifying the efforts of YSRCP government which has breathed life into the education sector and cheating parents by not implementing Talliki Vandanam is a deceit which is in the true style of Chandrababu Naidu @ncbn

Parent-Teachers meetings are not new, it was an integral part of every programme that was taken up by YSRCP government in ushering in revolutionary changes and reforms in the education sector for the better future of children. We have taken up Nadu Nedu works in partnership with parents in 15,715 schools in the first phase and 22,344 schools in the second phase. Parent committee have endorsed the government proposal to bring in English medium and were part of the Toilets Maintenance Fund and School Maintenance Fund. Now the coalition government has negated all the good moves and has been cheating them by giving new name to the otherwise normal meetings. They have even given circular for raising funds.

Under Amma Vodi, we have given Rs 15,000 regularly to 44.49 lakh mothers aggregating to Rs 26,067 crores. The coalition leaders went round to every house telling that every child will get Rs 15,000 irrespective of number and stopped Amma Vodi. The budget allocation was supposed to be Rs 12, 450 crores which was not there. When they will give is not clear. Parents are in distress as they are not getting the support. Why is the Chief Minister, his Deputy and Education Minister not speaking about this? This is nothing short of cheating.

The coalition government has stopped all the good work done by YSRCP. Nadu Nedu works were deliberately stopped. CBSE was introduced taking great pains and why was it stopped? The reforms we introduced like TOFEL, Subhect teachers from third standard, IB, future technology were all given the pass. We have distributed tabs to students from Class VIII as part of digital learning. Why were they stopped? Digital screens and IFP panels were discarded so was the idea to rope in final year Engineering students into the project.

Previously, Goru Mudha was implemented with day-wise menu and now students have become averse to the meals, though named after the great Dokka Sitamma. Wages were not paid to the staff. There are scores of cases of children being hospitalized after eating the unhygienic food.  What happened to the toilet and school maintenance funds?

Within six months of coming to power, education sector is being degenerated. Forcing the parents to shift their wards to private schools on one hand and to hold such meetings is a shameful act.

Are the students getting the succour they used to get in the form Vidya Deevena and Vasathi Deevena? Come January and the fourth quarterly amount will be pending. On one hand keeping dues of Rs 3,900 crores towards these two schemes and on the other hand enacting meeting dramas is certainly diversion politics.
