The Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (APCCIF) has formally submitted a representation to Sri T. Krishna Babu, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Government, Health, Medical and Family Welfare Department, highlighting the urgent need for more jogging and walking tracks throughout the State.

In its representation, AP Chambers emphasised that the lack of dedicated spaces for exercise poses a significant challenge to citizens’ health and well-being. With insufficient jogging tracks and playgrounds available, many residents struggle to find safe environments for their daily walks and runs.

AP Chambers pointed out that exercising on busy roads is not only hazardous due to heavy vehicular traffic but also exacerbated by the presence of stray dogs. Current municipal parks often feature crowded and inadequate paths that do not meet the needs of walkers and joggers.

Chambers requested the State government to issue a G.O. directing educational institutions to open their playgrounds to the public during designated morning and evening hours, 4 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., so the citizens would have the opportunity to exercise in a safer, more conducive environment without disrupting the institutions’ regular activities.

Furthermore, utilising the natural tracks found in educational institutions that are made of soil would be beneficial for joint health, as these surfaces are gentler on the joints compared to concrete. Additionally, collaboration between educational institutions and local Walker Associations could foster community health initiatives, including charity work and health awareness programmes.

AP Chambers urged the State government to consider this proposal seriously, as it promises to enhance public health and safety, benefitting both individuals and the community at large.
