ESI to build 500-bedded hospital in Amaravati

The Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) would establish a 500-bedded hospital in Andhra Pradesh capital, Amaravati. It would also establish a medical college attached to the hospital.

The Central government had given green signal to establish this hospital and medical college. It had sent a communication to the state government on this. The ESI hospital cum medical college was given to Telangana in the undivided Andhra Pradesh. Now, the state government had proposed for the hospital and medical college in Amaravati. The Centre had given green signal for the college.

The Centre had directed the ESIC to take steps to establish the hospital cum medical college in Amaravati. The ESIC too accordingly, formed a committee to study and submit a report to the Central government.

The medical college would require 25 acres of land according to the regulations of the National Medical Commission. The hospital would require 10 acres according to the rules and regulations of the ESIC. The state government had agreed to give the required 35 acres of land to the ESIC once the process begins.

The state government had also requested the ESI Corporation to complete the hospitals which were sanctioned to the state earlier. The ESIC had laid foundation stone for the 30-bedded hospital in Anakapalli. It had also decided to begin the works on 100-bedded hospital in Sri City in Tirupati and Guntur. The two hospitals were sanctioned to the state after the state was bifurcated.

Similarly, 30-bedded hospitals were sanctioned in Kurnool and Penugonda. The state government is holding consultations with the ESIC at these two towns. The medical and health department from the state government is holding consultations with the ESIC officials on these two hospitals.

The state government had also identified the suitable land for the ESI hospitals at Nellore and Srikakulam. The ESIC had cleared the proposal for 100-bedded hospital in Nellore and 30 -bedded hospital in Srikakulam.
