YSR Congress has ridiculed Chandrababu Naidu’s claim on Godavari-Banakacherla project and said it was YS Rajasekhar Reddy who envisioned irrigation projects in the state and his son followed it up while TDP was always on the wrong foot when it came to farmers’ welfare.
Speaking media former minister and YSRCP leader Ambati Rambabu said, Chandrababu Naidu’s claims by labelling Godavri-Banakacherla project as a game changer and the like are only a publicity stunt while records show that Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy has started Jalayagnam to bring in more extent of land under cultivation and started numerous projects which were followed up YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to take water to arid regions.
It was Jagan Mohan Reddy who planned the ambitious project of inter-liking of Godavari-Krishna rivers and irrigate barren lands in between and provide irrigation facility to the arid Rayalaseema and the project was aimed completion in there phases.
Chandrababu is in the habit hijacking ideas and this time he has no different and has been giving catchy names and slogans using his friendly media while reality is otherwise.
It was the plan of Jagan Mohan Reddy not to allow even a drop of water to drain into the sea and has worked for interlinking of rivers and divert the Godavari flood water to Krishna en route Rayalaseema.
The Godavari-Banakacherla project is in three phases first to bring Godavari flood waters to Krishna and from there to Bollapalli reservoir and eventually to Banakacherla traversing through a rough terrain, he said.
The DPR was sent to the Centre by Jagan Mohan Reddy and now Chandrababu Naidu is trying to hijack the credit and is claiming it as his own idea, he said. Chandrababu Naidu is known for privatization from roads, medical collages to ports and now even this project may go that way.
Law and order is a total failure in the state and police are acting at the behest of the ruling party dictates, but this government is not for ever is a fact which everyone should remember, he said. Naidu always has never bothered about irrigation projects and it was on record that YS Rajasekhar Reddy has started Jalayagnam and the legacy was carried forward by Jagan Mohan Reddy.
