Super Six – A clear betrayal of the people

The ruling coalition government in Andhra Pradesh had decided to implement Talliki Vandanam scheme from June 2025. The State Cabinet, which met in Velagapudi on Thursday decided to roll out the scheme in June.

Thalliki Vandanam is one of six major promises that the coalition had made to the people during the 2024 general elections. The scheme offers Rs 15,000 to the mother for sending her children to the school. The mother would get this Rs 15,000 for every child that she sends to the school. If the mother sends her two children, she gets Rs 30,000 and her three children she gets Rs 45,000.

The coalition had promised this money every year to all the mothers in the state. This was against the Amma Vodi promised and implemented by the YSR Congress government between 2019 and 2024. The YSR Congress government paid Rs 15,000 to every mother for sending her children to the school. Even if a mother sends her two children to the school, she was paid just Rs 15,000 per year.

People were attracted to this promise of the TDP-led coalition during the elections, besides other promises like three free gas cylinders, free bus travel for women, Rs 20,000 to farmers per year, Rs 1500 per month for every woman above the age of 18 years, and creation of 20 lakh jobs for youth or payment of Rs 3,000 unemployment stipend for every youth in the state.

This government was formed in June 2024 and did not roll out any of these six promises. In October this year, the government announced the free gas cylinders to the white ration card holders and this year just once cylinder was delivered. Two more cylinders would be given in the 2025 as per the schedule of the scheme announced by the government. This would mean that the eligible families would get just three cylinders for the first two years, in stead of six cylinders as promised by the TDP.

Thalliki Vandanam, financial support to the farmers, Rs 15000 payment to women above the age of 18 years are not implemented even after six months in office by this government. This absolute silence on implementation of the promises made by the TDP is a clear betrayal of the people. The government is not even speaking about the free bus travel even after six months. The government is also completely silent on payment of Rs 1500 per month to every woman and Rs 3000 to unemployed youth.

If this government takes one year to roll out the second promise of its Super Six promises, what will happen to the remaining four promises is the big question. The government is not even making a mention of giving Rs 1500 every month to the women above the age of 18 years. People in the villages have already started making assessment of the government and feeling that they have been betrayed.
