YSRCP Chief and Former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy visited flood-affected areas in Vijayawada, where he walked through waist-deep water in the Singh nagar and Yanamalakuduru regions and interacted with residents facing severe difficulties due to heavy rains and floods.

Speaking to the media here on Monday, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy pointed out that this is a man-made flood and said the actions of the government led to flooding entire areas of Vijayawada and it is only to protect Chandrababu Naidu’s residence on the Karakatta (embankment) from being submerged. He demanded that Chandrababu Naidu apologize to the public for the government’s negligence.

YS Jagan has strongly criticized the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s government for its negligence and disregarding the IMD’s warnings about heavy rains. He criticized the government for not creating necessary flood cushions at the upstream dams, which led to a massive inflow of water into the Krishna River, causing severe flooding in Vijayawada.

He stated that the government failed to take adequate measures to prevent the severe situation faced by the flood victims. He further added that if the government had properly planned for the rains, the situation wouldn’t have been this dire. He pointed out that the government had failed to provide enough boats or relief camps for the flood victims, with only six camps available for lakhs of people. He emphasized that not a single rupee of aid had been provided to the victims by the government, leaving them without food and water. Many victims were unaware of where the relief camps were located, and they were in a state of despair, he said.

YS Jagan also criticized the government for focusing more on political vendettas rather than governance. He urged the administration to shift its focus to the welfare of the people. Recalling his tenure as Chief Minister, YS Jagan emphasized how his government effectively managed similar situations with proactive measures, ensuring quick and adequate relief to the affected population.

He assured that, despite not being in power, YSRCP leaders, volunteers, and local representatives are on the ground, providing all possible support to the flood victims.
