Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu blamed former chief minister and YSR Congress president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy for the floods to Budameru rivulet. The floods to Budameru have inundated half of Vijayawada. People are still in the waters for the fifth consecutive day. The flood waters have submerged Ajitsinghnagar, Payakapuram, Rajarajeswaripet, Prakashnagar and other areas along Budameru rivulet.

Chandrababu Naidu said that the previous YSR Congress government did not spend even a single rupee in the last five years on Budameru. He said that his government in 2014 had  sanctioned Rs 500 crore for the strengthening of Budameru bunds. But the successive government did not spend even a single paise from the money, Naidu said.

The chief minister also alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy government had allowed his party leaders to encroach upon the Budameru rivulet from Vijayawada to Kolleru. The government did not take action against those who encroached upon the rivulet. He further alleged that the YSR Congress leaders have also taken away the mud from the Budameru bund. They destroyed even the Polavaram right main canal, he alleged.

He said that his house on Karakatta was also inundated. Water have come and gone, but I am with the people, he said. He refuted the charge that he had left his house because of floods. He also refuted the charge that he is taking shelter in the NTR district Collectorate. He said that was his responsibility to protect the people in the crisis.

He said he is leading the officials to do the relief work. He said that he had visited several places which were in the water and gave courage to the victims. He is not hiding in the collectorate, he said. He further said that Jagan Mohan Reddy had met the victims only after he met them.

Chandrababu Naidu said that he was living in a rented house and did not build palace like Jagan Mohan Reddy. He is a simple man and serves the people all the time. He further said that he never ran away from responsibility when people were in crisis.

The chief minister reiterated that he would help the flood victims. He would not rest until the last man is helped, he said.
